During Tuesday’s practice, the media was allowed to view about six minutes of practice. The offense was indoors and the defense was practicing outdoors during that time span. The players were practicing in full pads (shells), and were running full speed.

Here are some notes from practice:

Offense:

• Tight ends coach Todd Hartley had his guys catching five-yard out routes, accelerating downfield, and hitting a tackling pad downfield.
• Eli Wolf (17) was first in the drill, followed by Charlie Woerner (89), and John FitzPatrick (86). All three guys caught their passes.
• At first, the wide receivers were working on a drill where they ran five yards, and then ducked up under a chute then immediately caught a pass.
• Lawrence Cager (15) and Demetris Robertson (16) caught both of their passes, but then the group transitioned into running slant routes.
• Kearis Jackson (10) was at practice for the second day in a row and caught every ball that came his way.
• The quarterbacks and running backs were together on handoffs.

• The offensive line was off to the side, and senior left guard Solomon Kindley (66) was back practicing today participating in drills. He did have a brace on his ankle, though.
• Justin Shaffer (64) was getting reps at first team left guard again, and Ben Cleveland (74) was at first team right guard.
• Freshman Clay Webb (60) was getting some reps with the second team at right guard.

Defense:

• The defense was practicing outside during the media viewing period, and off to the side sophomore cornerback Tyson Campbell (3) was working away from the other DBs.
• Campbell still seems to be very limited in what he can do.
• Smart said Monday, “Tyson is still limited a little bit. Hoping to get him back before the end of the week,” Smart said. “He’s recovering quickly.”
• Some observations on the other defensive backs at practice today…
• DJ Daniel (14) and Eric Stokes (27) were both working at first-team cornerback. Stokes looked like he was moving really well without limitation.
• Freshman left corner Tyrique Stevenson (7) was off to the side during drills. He had his helmet off and was not participating during the short time the media was allowed to watch practice.
• The defensive line was working bursting off the line after the ball and sprinting about 10 yards.
• Tyler Clark (52) was the fastest player off the ball.
