It was all business for Tuesday’s practice as the Bulldogs continue preparations for Alabama. The team stayed inside for the second consecutive day as it’s pretty chilly outside. Here are mine and Steve’s observations from Tuesday’s practice.
Savannah’s Offense Report
— There wasn’t the usual yelling and high energy at practice today. It seems like they want the guys to save that energy for Saturday. The message from the coaching staff and how they’re going about practice is that this is just another game. Be calm and play your game.
— Still no Cade Mays at practice.
— Jim Chaney had his guys working through blocking drills with the pads and then move to live blocking.
— The quarterbacks worked with the running backs through handoff drills. Then the running backs worked on their agility with the chute.
— No new news from the offensive line, but I will report that Ben Cleveland looked a lot better today. That group seems in excellent shape and like they could maul over anything.
Steve’s Defense Report:
— Netori Johnson still wearing #72 and working with the defensive line.
— David Marshall was seen working in the weight room but is not practicing.
— DaQuan Hawkins-Muckle back working with the defensive line and appears to be healthy. It will be interesting to see if he plays this weekend.
— The defensive backs and wide receivers working together again today. There is a heavy emphasis on defending the back shoulder throws so they can read and react, so they don’t draw a pass interference call.
— Divaad Wilson was wearing #5 and was one of the few impressive defensive backs out there today.
— Tyson Campbell struggled to turn his head defending the back shoulder throws. Most likely Eric Stokes or Mark Webb will be getting the other cornerback start opposite of Baker.
— Monty Rice was at practice today but was not practicing.
