Georgia moved inside the “House of Payne” for Tuesday’s practice in preparations for Auburn. The intensity seemed through the roof as the coaches yelled and fired up the team. If I can give any initial observations of today, it’s that this team is excited for Saturday.  Steve and I give our takeaways from Tuesday’s practice.

Savannah’s Offense Report

— Cade Mays and Lamont Gaillard were off to the side taking reps with an assistant coach. Mays had on a brace on his right shoulder. Gaillard still limped, but it wasn’t as prominent as it was yesterday.

— Ben Cleveland ran through drills with the rest of the team and seemed fine.

— Trey Hill and Warren Ericson worked at the center position.

— Sam Pittman had plenty to yell at his group today. He told them, “Drive, Drive Drive!” Then he told them, “Get him out, get him out!”

— Jim Chaney worked his tight ends through the usual blocking drills. After they did work with the bag, they moved to live blocking. He told the group, “Figure it out, it ain’t a f—– hard drill.” Then he told Luke Ford and Isaac Nauta, “Work his ass with power! POWER!”

— Chaney complimented Jackson Harris on proper hand placement during his live blocking reps.

— Jake Fromm still had the wrap on his knee but seemed to practice without any issues.

Steve’s Defense Report

— David Marshall (foot) still out. There is no timetable for his return.

— DaQuan Hawkins-Muckle still out as well (undisclosed).

— Head coach Kirby Smart eyed the defensive line today and gave Jordan Davis some tough love, “You better move What’s going on!” Davis has played completely out of his mind and is an absolute gem that was needed on this defensive line.

— The OLB’s were working on shedding blockers. Extending their arms to gain control of the blocker and moving them in the opposite direction to maintain gap control.

— The defensive backs continued to work defending back shoulder throws and turning their heads so that they do not draw a pass interference. Kirby Smart has seen enough of pass interference calls extending opposing teams drives.

— Netori Johnson still has on the #5 jersey. He also continues to work with the defensive line. Its looking like this may be a permanent switch.
