Georgia Gymnastics defeats Boise State on Saturday afternoon 197.525-196.625 on Senior Day. The score marks a season-high for the team, which they did in front a sold-out crowd at Stegeman Coliseum. Before the match, each of the six seniors received honors and a round of applause from the crowd. 

The Bulldogs earned top honors in all four events. Lauren Johnson won the vault title, Sydney Snead took the bars title, and Vivi Babalis snatched the beam title. Rachel Dickson took the floor and all-around crowns. Georgia scored as a team a 49.350 on vault, 49.425 on bars, 49.275 on beam and 49.475 on the floor.

Marissa Oakley started the Gym Dogs out on vault scoring a career high of 9.825. Jasmine Arnold made her vault debut and earned a 9.850. Lauren Johnson posted the first 9.9 or better of the meet and marked a season-high score with a 9.925. Rachel Dickson tied her season high with a 9.850 and Sydney Snead earned a season-high of 9.9 to close out vault. All of the scores on vault marked or matched season highs for the gymnasts.

Success continued on the bars with Natalie Vaculik posting a 9.875 tying her individual high. Snead set a career-high and Dickson hit season-high posting scores of 9.950 and 9.925. During the third rotation, Babalis posted a 9.9 on beam for the third time this season. Snead, Oakley and Sabrina Vega each collected a 9.850. Dickson contributed a 9.825 during the event too.

During the final rotations, Dickson led the way posting a 9.950. Babalis finished her last performance in Stegeman with a 9.925. Arnold contributed a 9.850. Jordyn Pederson notched a 9.850 in her debut on floor to wrap up the meet for Georgia.

It was a season-high of 197.525, absolutely amazing, but I attribute that definitely to the week we’ve had,” head coach Courtney Kupets Carter said. “It’s senior week. They really paid attention to everything they’ve done in gymnastics leading up to this and we told them [the seniors] at the beginning of this week that they really had to set it up and set the tone for the rest of this season. I can see the fight within them. They’ve given everything they’ve had this week and it’s absolutely amazing to see it come full circle for them this whole season. They’ve had the gymnastics in them and I’m just extremely proud that they have never given up when there have been ups and downs, highs and lows, and injuries. This team is here to stay and they’re going to keep moving from this point on.”
