The Georgia men’s basketball team will host the Texas Lornhorns this afternoon in Athens, GA for a 4:00 p.m. ET tipoff before a sold-out crowd in the Stegeman Coliseum.

 
Georgia’s remaining weekend games against Kentucky and LSU also have been sold out for weeks. Those sellouts were aided by a record number of season tickets sold for the 2016-17 season.
 
 
The Bulldogs are 12-8 overall and 4-4 in SEC play and looking to snap their first two-game losing skid of the 2016-17 campaign. Last Saturday, Georgia suffered a one-point setback at Texas A&M when a clock malfunction prevented Yante Maten from attempting potential game-winning free throws. The Bulldogs then fell to Alabama on Wednesday.
 
 
Maten leads Georgia in both scoring (19.7 ppg) and rebounding (7.8 rpg). Among SEC leaders, he is second in scoring and third in rebounding. Maten also ranks second in the league in double-doubles with five.
 
 
J.J. Frazier is contributing 15.6 ppg (No. 7 in the SEC). His team-best averages of 2.1 steals and 4.3 assists rank second and fifth in the SEC. Nationally, Frazier is No. 30 in free throw percentage (.888) and No. 31 in steals.
 
 
Maten, a junior forward, and Frazier, a senior guard, are one of the nation’s most potent inside-outside offensive tandems. Their combined average of 35.5 ppg ranks No. 6 nationally among guard-forward scoring duos with both players ranked among the nation’s top-250 scorers. They are the only teammates in the top-10 from a Power 5 conference.
 
 
In statistics for conference games only, Maten and Frazier currently rank No. 3 and No. 4 in the SEC in scoring at 19.5 ppg and 16.4 ppg, respectively.
 
 
Juwan Parker, who has been Georgia’s third-leading scorer for the majority of the season, is on a tear of late. Parker averaged 8.0 ppg in non-conference play but is contributing 12.1 ppg in league action. That has upped his season average to 9.7 ppg.
 
 
Texas sports records of 8-12 overall and 2-6 in Big 12 play. The Longhorns are coming off a dramatic 84-83 win over Oklahoma on Monday night.
 
 
Among active players, Jarrett Allen leads Texas in scoring (12.4 ppg) and rebounding (8.6 rpg). Andrew Jones is contributing 10.9 ppg. Kerwin Roach Jr. adds 10.6 ppg and paces UT with averages of 3.7 apg and 1.5 spg.

UGA leads the all-time series with UT, 6-5 overall and 2-0 in Athens. This is the first meeting since the 2002-03 season opener.
