Coach Sam Pittman has pulled another 5-star out of state recruit in Alabama offensive lineman Clay Webb.
From Saturday Down South:
“The 6-foot-3, 295-pound Webb is rated as a five-star prospect by 247Sports Composite Rankings and is listed as the No. 1 center prospect in the nation. He’s the No. 22 overall prospect in the country, too. Webb is expected to sign during the early signing period and plans to be an early enrollee in Athens. He has been selected to participate in the 2019 Under Armour All-American Game before beginning his college career.
Following Webb’s commitment, Georgia now holds 19 total commitments for the 2019 recruiting cycle, which includes four five-star prospects. This commitment also jumps the Bulldogs over Texas A&M for the nation’s No. 2-rated recruiting class, with 0nly Alabama currently rated higher than Georgia.”
Sam Pittman was the driving force in Webb’s choice of Georgia over the Crimson Tide:
“I love Coach (Sam) Pittman,” Webb said back in July. “I like him a lot. His demeanor and his overall attitude about everything and his non-stop drive is just different. I like that so much about him.”
Webb, who will sign and enroll early at Georgia, has plenty of support from his family in picking Georgia as well. The five-star has an aunt and uncle who went to Georgia and a grandfather who lives in Douglasville. His mother spoke very well of the Bulldogs.
“I grew up in Georgia,” Dana Webb, Clay’s mother said last month. “My sister went to the University of Georgia. I’m very familiar with Georgia. It feels like a home-like atmosphere. I love the energy of the crowd in the stands when you attend a game there. I think Coach (Sam) Pittman is a very good coach, just like (Alabama’s offensive line coach Brent) Coach Key. I think they’re so good at what they do. They all are but you know I just get the feeling Coach Pittman is all about developing the better player and making them the best player they can be. I’m sure they’re all like that. Coach Pittman has a really good sense of humor about him too which is easier to get to know more because we are reserved people.
