“Our schedule is very challenging, and it is going to test our team,” said first year head coach Billy Lesesne. “It gives us an opportunity to play some quality opponents outside of the conference before we get into the SEC portion of the schedule. Last year the SEC had what was probably its strongest season with eight teams making the NCAA Tournament. It’s a challenging schedule, but we are looking forward to getting the season started.”
Notable aspects of Georgia’s 2015 schedule:
• Georgia will play an exhibition game at home against Furman on Aug. 15.
• Five of Georgia’s first six games are against 2014 NCAA Tournament teams.
• The first four regular season games are on the road, and the home opener is slated for Sept. 4 vs. Clemson.
• Other non-conference opponents include High Point, Wake Forest, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, and Samford – all on the road.
• Georgia will not play Kentucky and Ole Miss in the regular season. Each SEC team has 11 conference games.
• Georgia closes the regular season with a home contest against Florida on Thursday, Oct. 29.
• The SEC Tournament will again be held in Orange Beach, Ala., Nov. 2-8.
• The TV schedule for 2015 will be announced at a later date.
• 2015 marks the 20-year anniversary of Georgia’s first soccer team in 1995.
