Georgia softball run-ruled Georgia Southern on Wednesday defeating them 8-0. This win improves Georgia’s record to 27-7 on the season.The game seemed to bring a spark back into the team after being swept by LSU last weekend.
 
 
Georgia’s bats stayed hot throughout the game. Sydni Emanuel led the team in hitting by going 3-for-4, scoring two runs and tallying a RBI. Alysen Febrey and Alyssa DiCarlo each notched a pair of RBIs which solidified the run-rule win. As a whole, the Bulldogs collected eight hits and gave Eagles’ pitcher Dixie Raley a loss.
 
 

 
 
Starting pitcher Brittany Gray threw a complete-game shutout. The shutout marked the fifth of her career and third of the season. Gray gave up just five hits, she walked three and struck out three batters. During the first three innings, Georgia Southern placed runners in scoring position, but Gray and the defense proved too strong and prevented the scores.
 
 
Georgia scored two runs in the second on a Febrey two-RBI double. Prior to the hit, Lacey Sumerlin walked, and Maeve McGuire hit a sacrifice fly to load the bases. The Bulldogs went ahead 4-0 after three innings.
 
 

 
 
To solidify the win, Georgia sealed the run-rule in the sixth as Justice Milz, DiCarlo and S. Emanuel recorded at least one RBI during the inning.
 
 
The game was a warm up to the action this upcoming weekend against highly ranked Auburn. Georgia will face Auburn three times this weekend starting on Friday at 6 p.m.
