The University of Georgia softball team has been picked to finish second in the 2019 SEC Preseason Coaches’ Poll, the league announced Wednesday.

The Bulldogs, who picked up two first-place votes from the league’s head coaches, received 130 points in the poll. The reigning champions, Florida (10 first-place votes), received 142 points and are the preseason favorites in the league.

Tennessee (108 points), South Carolina (105), and Arkansas (97) round out the top five of the poll.

Georgia is coming off its fourth Women’s College World Series appearance in 2018. The Bulldogs concluded the season 48-13 overall and 16-8 in the league. Georgia’s 16-win mark in league play was the most since 2012 when it had 17.

Georgia opens the 2019 campaign Feb. 8 in Boca Raton, Florida as part of the Florida Atlantic First Pitch Classic.
