A rematch of last year’s NCAA Athens Regional showdown; so, get your peanuts and popcorn ready, the No. 9 Georgia softball team hosts North Carolina underneath the lights on Wednesday night on SEC Network.
 
 
The game is set for 7:30 p.m. ET with a 7:32 first pitch. This will be the third time this season that the Bulldogs are featured on SEC Network.
 
 
All regular-season home games have free admission, as the first 300 fans to Jack Turner Stadium receive a Georgia seat cushion.
 
 
GAME NOTES
 
 
LAST TIME OUT: LSU

After not being able to tab the win in the first two games of the series, Georgia closed out its series with LSU taking a 3-1 win over the Tigers on Sunday. The Bulldogs recorded nine hits against the Tigers’ pitching staff, finding most of the success with slap hitters Sydni Emanuel, Samantha LaZear and Cortni Emanuel. S. Emanuel was a perfect 3-for-3 on the day while C. Emanuel also had three and LaZear finished with a hit and two runs.
 
 
Chelsea Wilkinson threw a phenomenal game for the Bulldogs, striking out eight batters and only allowing two hits. The senior closed each of her six innings with a strikeout, as five of those frame stranded one or more LSU runner. Brittany Gray earned her fifth save of the season, throwing the final inning with no hits and one strikeout.
 
 
For the series, S. Emanuel hit .636 while Alex Hugo led the team with a pair of doubles and three runs scored. In the circle, Wilkinson held the Tigers to a .180 average while striking out 12 in two appearances.
 
 
THE EMANUELS’ BATS HEAT UP

Going 1-2 in the Georgia lineup, the Emanuel sisters are back-to-back in many of the batting average rankings. Younger sister, Cortni, who set the school record with a 23-game hitting streak earlier in the season, is currently first in the SEC and ninth in the nation with a .480 average. Sydni is right behind after a stellar weekend against LSU, now sitting second in the league and 10th in the nation with a .474 mark. No other school has two players in the top 15 nationally, let alone two that are sisters.
 
 
WILKINSON, GRAY WITH 100+ STRIKEOUTS

After falling one short last season, Gray notched her 100th strikeout of the season against LSU, after tying her career high with 11 strikeouts in game two against the Tigers. Now the sophomore and Wilkinson each have over 100 strikeouts on the year with plenty of games to add more. The duo makes Georgia just one of four schools in the nation to have two pitchers on staff with 100+ strikeouts, joining Florida, Lipscomb and Charlotte.
