ATHENS — New day, same rotation (for the most part) for the Georgia defense.

The Bulldogs hit the field again to prepare for their annual G-Day spring scrimmage on April 21. Defensive rotations stayed largely the same as Tuesday, but there were a few notable observations.

Here are some observations from the 15 minutes allotted for the media:

Taylor practices with the 1s

Junior Juwan Taylor practiced with the starters at inside linebacker. Taylor, who appeared in all 15 games in 2017, registered three tackles on three separate occasions.

Additionally, Tae Crowder and Natrez Patrick rounded out the first three inside linebackers during position drills. Crowder and Patrick combined for 42 total stops in 2017.

Elsewhere at linebacker, junior D’Andre Walker got some extra reps during a particular drill, as linebackers coach Dan Lanning yelled, “Come on, D’Andre! Come on, D’Andre!”

Defensive line rotation, Marshall injury

It’s still quite early, but one Bulldogs linebacker is already wrapped up.

Defensive end David Marshall, a sophomore from Thomaston, Ga., wore heavy wrap on his right wrist. Marshall used his full hand to plant during position drills and noticeably kept weight off it.

At defensive tackle, senior Jonathan Ledbetter and junior Tyler Clark worked at No. 1 and No. 2. Julian Rochester rounded out the top three defensive tackles.

J.R. Reed practiced as the No. 1 safety.
