The results are in from Fayetteville, Arkansas and day number one of the Razorback Invitational for the University of Georgia track and field teams.

Bulldog senior Kendell Williams scored the world’s third-highest pentathlon score this year to highlight the opening day of the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., on Friday.

Williams’ NCAA-leading score was one of four convincing victories for the No. 3 Lady Bulldogs and No. 4 Georgia men, who also saw senior Shelby Ashe register a deep personal record in the weight throw.

“The team keeps accepting each challenge I and the other coaches present them with,” said Bulldog head coach Petros Kyprianou. “They are cheering each other on, pushing each other to the limit. I thought today was a very good day and I am excited to see how we finish strong on Saturday.”

Williams bettered the country’s top pentathlon mark this year by more than 400 points to for her ninth collegiate pentathlon victory. Williams scored 4,476 as she continues her pursuit to win her fourth NCAA title in the event, a feat that has never been accomplished.

“Kendell punched her ticket to the NCAA Championships with her score and it is always nice for us to get another national leader as the postseason approaches,” said Kyprianou.

True freshman Louisa Grauvogel moved into the No. 7 spot in the school record books by scoring 3,956 points in her first pentathlon at Georgia for fourth place.

Older brother Devon Williams jumpstarted his first heptathlon of the year by scoring a day one personal-best score of 3,307 thanks to a pair of career bests. With three events to go on the second day, junior Karl Saluri is in third with 3,241 points.

Taking firm control of the national triple jump race last weekend, junior Keturah Orji transitioned into the second spot on the country’s long jump list on Friday night. The Mount Olive, N.J., native opened with a jump of 21 feet and then worked up to a personal record of 21 feet, 5 ½ inches in the fifth round.

Orji’s sixth and final attempt measured 21-9, which trails only Chanice Porter’s school record of 21-9.50 set at the 2016 SEC meet. This also moves Orji just behind the national long jump leader this year.

The Georgia women also secured second place in the women’s long jump. Newcomer Kate Hall also had a meet-best mark on her sixth try. She went 20-11.25 to earn runner-up honors by two inches.

True freshman Darius Carbin hit seven feet in the high jump for the third time in 2017 and won his second competition in a row with the NCAA’s second-best effort this year. He advanced with last try clearances at 7-1 and 7-2.25 before cruising over the bar at 7-3.25 on his first attempt.

Carbin, who shot to No. 5 in the school record books with the top effort since 1995, topped 2016 NCAA outdoor champion Randall Cunningham from USC and Florida freshman Clayton Brown, who is this season’s national leader.
