[su_spacer size=”40″] Georgia 12, Arkansas 4 (Six Innings)
[su_spacer size=”10″] Georgia used a walk off double by Katie Browne to clinch the series against Arkansas with a 12-4, six-inning win. It was the second run-rule win of the weekend and the third-straight by the Bulldogs.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Brittany Gray (11-1) earned the complete-game win. She allowed four runs, three earned, on four hits in six innings of work. She also struck out three batters. Sydney Wright (8-6) took the loss after giving up six runs on nine hits and a walk in 4.1 innings. Grace Moll also saw time in the circle, allowing six runs on five hits in 1.1 innings.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Georgia had six multiple hit performers in the game, led by Alex Hugo, who went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, three runs scored and three RBI. Tina Iosefa went 2-for-4 with a home run.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Arkansas took a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning. A bases loaded walk, a double to center and a fielding error allowed the Razorbacks to take an early lead.
[su_spacer size=”40″] The Bulldogs responded quickly, cutting the lead to one at 4-3. With two away, Paige Wilson laid down a bunt single and scored on a double by Hugo to the left field corner. With a runner at third, Iosefa lifted a 2-0 pitch over the scoreboard for a home run, her third of the year, which made it a 4-3 game.
[su_spacer size=”40″] After a quiet second inning, Georgia retired the side in order in the top of the third. Hugo showed why she one of the most dangerous hitters in the game, giving the Bulldogs a 5-4 lead with a two-run home run to center. It was her 12th home run of the season and third this week.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Georgia tacked on one run in the bottom of the fourth inning that extended its lead to 6-4. Browne got the inning started when she drew a one-out walk. After pair of singles loaded the bases, Sydni Emanuel put a 0-1 pitch in play, allowing pinch runner Adele Harrison to score safely from third for Georgia’s sixth run of the game.
[su_spacer size=”40″] With Gray keeping the Arkansas bats at bay, Georgia was able to score six runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the game 12-4. A pair of singles by Samantha LaZear and Cortni Emanuel got things started for Georgia. With two on and no outs, S. Emanuel went up the middle for a RBI single that made it a 7-4 game. Hugo was intentionally walked to load the bases with one out. With little room for error, Arkansas allowed Georgia to score its eighth run of the game on a passed ball. With two on, Anna Swafford made it a 10-4 game when she doubled off the wall in left field that scored both Hugo and S. Emanuel. Browne delivered the knockout blow with a walk off two run double to left that sealed the 12-4, six inning win that clinched the series.

[su_spacer size=”10″] The Georgia completed the season sweep of Arkansas with a 9-1, five inning win in the second game of the doubleheader.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Chelsea Wilkinson (16-4) got her second win of the weekend win in the complete-game performance. She allowed one run on three hits and one walks. She also struck out six. Wright (8-7) suffered her second loss of the day after allowing nine runs on eight hits and four walks in 2.2 innings in the circle. She also struck out one batter. Haley Meinen threw the final 1.1 innings and did not give up a run.
[su_spacer size=”40″] S. Emanuel went 3-for-3 in the game, scoring once and driving in three runs. Iosefa continued her hot day at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a double and two runs scored.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Georgia struck first in the second game of the day, taking a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Iosefa’s strong day at the plate continued as she led off the inning with a double. After back-to-back walks loaded the bases, Maeve McGuire sent a 1-0 pitch to the right field corner for a two-run, pinch-hit double that put Georgia up 2-0. S. Emanuel drove in the third run of the game with a RBI single to left that scored Browne.
[su_spacer size=”40″] The Bulldogs scored six runs on five hits in the bottom of the third inning to extend its lead to 9-0. After a single, a double and walk loaded the bases, Georgia scored its fourth run when Browne walked in a run. LaZear then laid down a sacrifice bunt that allowed Swafford to score and make it a 5-0 lead. Niaja Griffin followed with a single up the middle and into center that drove Puailoa across the plate. S. Emanuel made it an 8-0 game with a two-run single to center that scored Griffin and Browne. S. Emanuel scored the final run of the inning that brought the score to 9-0 on a RBI double off the wall in center field by Wilson.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Wilkinson retired eight-straight batters before giving up a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning that cut the lead to 9-1. After giving a single, Wilkinson retired the next two batters to seal the 9-1 win and the series sweep.
[su_spacer size=”40″] The Bulldogs will conclude its home stand on Wednesday, March 25 against Georgia Southern. The game is set to begin at 6 p.m.
