Moving into second on Georgia’s all-time strikeout list, Chelsea Wilkinson shined in Tuesday’s game, as the No. 9 Georgia softball team (30-5, 4-2) blanked Georgia Tech (13-20) by a score of 5-0.
 
 
Wilkinson (16-2) tossed 11 strikeouts with no hits allowed in five innings of work, as the senior now holds 794 strikeouts in her career. Wilkinson moved up to second place in Georgia’s record book, passing Natalie Green’s (1997-00) 792 strikeouts. The North Carolina native allowed just one baserunner, a lone walk to the game’s opening batter, sitting down the next 15.
 
 
Kylie Bass came into the circle for the final two frames, giving up the Yellow Jacket’s only hit of the game but striking out four with no walks.
 
 
Tina Iosefa continues to be a threat at the plate, as her two hits of the game came off of solo home runs in back-to-back batting appearances. Cortni Emanuel, Alyssa DiCarlo and Samantha LaZear each had two hits apiece while LaZear also scored a run.
 
 
It was a pitcher’s duel until the Bulldogs broke it open in the fourth with Iosefa’s leadoff home run. Georgia then capitalized on two Jacket miscues to make it 3-0.
 
 
Iosefa’s 12th home run of the year put the Bulldogs up 4-0 after five while one more run came in the sixth with a RBI single from C. Emanuel.
 
 
Georgia resumes SEC action this weekend, as the No. 8 LSU Tigers come to Athens. The series begins on Friday with a 6 p.m. ET contest on SEC Network+/WatchESPN.
