The No. 9 Georgia softball team (30-6, 4-3) fell to No. 8 LSU (27-8, 4-6), as the Tigers rallied for a 5-4 win in a nail-biter at Jack Turner Stadium.
 
 
Chelsea Wilkinson started in the circle for the Bulldogs, going 6.2 innings, giving up seven hits and three runs while recording four strikeouts. Freshman Kylie Bass (5-1) came in as relief in the top of the seventh to take the loss, her first of the season.
 
 
Senior Alex Hugo led the way offensively for the Bulldogs, going 2-for-3 from the plate with a pair of runs and RBI. Sydni Emanuel also got off two hits in the contest.
 
 
For LSU, Carley Hoover (11-3) earned the win, going the complete game with eight hits and six strikeouts.
 
 
The Bulldogs put one on the board early in the bottom of the first; however, the team really cracked the game open in the bottom of the third. S. Emanuel got things started with a bunt single. Her younger sister Cortni Emanuel followed with a single of her own, and both of the sisters advanced a base due to an error by LSU. Hugo doubled to bring both home, and Alyssa DiCarlo kept the rally going with a RBI single, giving the Bulldogs a 4-0 lead.
 
 
LSU remained quiet from the plate for the majority of the game, but got the bats going down the stretch. The Tigers tallied a run in the top of the sixth to squander Wilkinson’s shutout opportunity. In the top of the seventh inning, Sandra Simmons and Constance Quinn both tallied singles. Amber Serrett then grounded into a double play to third, leaving one on and two outs for Wilkinson to finish the game. However, Allie Walljasper homered to left field, making the score 4-3.
 
 
The Tigers then got the winning runs off of reliever Bass with a single and an error, giving the Tigers the 5-4 lead going into the bottom of the seventh.
 
 
Lacey Sumerlin led off the frame with a single; however, Hoover hung on and went the distance to complete the comeback, as the Tigers took game one of the series.
