OFFENSE DAWG BONE: TIE
Georgia has a balanced offense averaging 216.33 in the air per game and 272 on the ground. With three backs over 100 yards, the Bulldogs will likely challenge the Tiger defense on the ground. Elijah Holyfield leads the team with 200 yards averaging 9.1 yards a carry. However, Georgia can do it in the air too. Jake Fromm only throws about 15 times a game but completes 80.43 recent of his passes. He makes good throws and makes them count. The Tigers will have to contain Mecole Hardman who leads the team in receptions with 12 for 187 yards and three touchdowns and took one to the house on a punt. He’s a versatile weapon that’ll likely be used on both offense and special teams.
Missouri has one of the best quarterbacks in the country with senior Drew Lock. He’s already thrown for over 1,000 yards this season. Lock averages 305 yards in the air while the rush attack runs for about 200 yards. He’ll likely use two of his favorite targets, Emanuel Hall and Albert Okwuegbunam a lot against the Bulldogs. Hall has 18 catches for 430 yards while Okwuegbunam has 14 catches for 100 yards. As for the rushing side of things, Larry Roundtree averages 86.67 on the ground per game and already has 260 total yards.
Both offenses win the Dawg Bone because they have weapons and know how to use them. However, it’ll be who has fewer turnovers and more explosive plays that’ll win between the two talented offenses.
DEFENSE DAWG BONE: GEORGIA
Georgia’s defense wins the Dawg Bone for a few reasons. First, the team’s holding opponents to just eight points per game. The Bulldogs give up 101 yards on the ground and 157.67 in the air. Finally, the turnovers, Georgia’s secondary has two games with at least one interception in them and expect that to happen again. Lock throws an average of 38 times a game, so Georgia’s secondary will likely have a chance to catch another interception. However, for the Bulldogs to stay unbeaten, they must dominate the line of scrimmage and put pressure on Lock.
SPECIAL TEAMS DAWG BONE: GEORGIA
Rodrigo Blankenship is on his way to being one of the best kickers to come through Georgia. He’s 23-23 on kickoffs and touchbacks. The question now is how long will he go until someone takes one out of the end zone. Blankenship’s leg appears to get stronger each week. Jake Camarda continues to make a name for himself with his punts. He averages 47.44 yards per kick and has four 50 plus bombs. These two get the special teams Dawg Bone because they do their job each week and do it at an elite level.
COACHING DAWG BONE: GEORGIA
Kirby Smart gets the coaching Dawg Bone because he’s 2-0 against Missouri head coach Barry Odom. Smart knows what it takes to beat the Tigers, and expect for him to stick to that plan on Saturday. His team is buying into his process, and that process includes how to beat Missouri.
OVERALL DAWG BONE: GEORGIA
Despite the Bulldogs traveling to Missouri and playing at 11 a.m. local time, Georgia gets the overall Dawg Bone because they’re more talented, deeper and disciplined. The Bulldogs will travel, do their job and move onto the next opponent.
