Georgia’s SEC opener against South Carolina will be featured on the CMT network this Saturday at 9 a.m.
CMT has a new series that airs on Saturday mornings during the network’s “Hot 20 Countdown” show. “Country on Campus,” hosted by Bonnie Bernstein, is a show that combines country music stars and their love of college football.
This week’s segment features Lady Antebellum members, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood. The two are alumni of the University of Georgia, and both are die-hard Bulldog fans. Bernstein went on the road with them and captured the group at Border Bash tailgate.
The piece features all the fun they had between them and their tourmate, South Carolina alumni and huge Gamecock fan, Darius Rucker. After the game, there was a concert featuring both Rucker and Lady Antebellum.
Bernstein, a renowned veteran sports journalist for ESPN and CBS, has launched her own production company, Walk Swiftly Productions. She partnered with CMT creating Country on Campus where she will host and be one of the executive producers. The series will go behind-the-scenes with five artists exploring why the individuals have loyalties to their various football teams and schools.
“The opportunity to create a series interweaving my passions for sports and music is a dream come true,” said Bernstein in CMT’s press release. “There’s such a strong bond between country music and college football, and we know fans across both platforms will embrace this different side of their favorite artists.”
“Country on Campus” premiered on September 15 and opened up with longtime Gator fan and platinum recording artist, Dustin Lynch and his first trip to The Swamp.
Georgia fans can watch the segment on Lady A this Saturday at 9 a.m. on CMT. If you miss the live episode, the piece will be featured on all of CMT’s social media platforms.
