The Georgia gymnastics team and head coach Courtney Kupets Carter announced the 2020 schedule Tuesday. 

After tallying a decade-best score of 198.050 to secure their trip to the 2019 NCAA National Championships, resulting in a semifinal finish, the GymDogs look to carry that momentum into 2020.

“We are really excited about the 2020 season,” Kupets Carter said. “We have great competition in the regular season and it’s different from other years, which makes it impactful and helps us build towards postseason. We have three meets that will be run like regionals and nationals and are thrilled to host a Tri-Meet to showcase the Georgia tradition to other schools. We are really looking forward to the SEC Championship being held in Duluth as well and know our loyal fans will make it another home meet environment for us.”

The first event of the year will be the annual “First Look”. It will be held in Stegeman Coliseum on Tuesday, December 17 at 6:30 p.m.

The GymDogs will open the 2020 season at the Critique Classic Invitation on January 3 in Kissimmee, Florida, featuring Bridgeport, Iowa, and Oregon State. 

The home opener in Stegeman Coliseum will be against the LSU Tigers on January 10, before welcoming Iowa State to Athens for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Meet on Monday, January 20.

Georgia will participate in a podium meet at the Metroplex Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas, featuring reigning national champion Oklahoma, Alabama, and Denver on Saturday, January 25. 

The GymDogs will begin the month of February by hosting Auburn on Superbowl Sunday (Feb. 2) in Stegeman Coliseum and then head to Fayetteville to take on Arkansas on February 7. 

Georgia returns home to host the first Tri-Meet in Stegeman Coliseum since 2000 with Ball State and Eastern Michigan on February 14.

The final four meets of the season are split between home and away against SEC opponents. Georgia will face Kentucky (Feb. 21) and Alabama (March 7) on the road, as well as Florida (Feb. 28) and Missouri (March 14) in Athens. 

The 2020 SEC Championship will be held down the road at the Infinite Energy Arena in Duluth, Ga. on March 21. 

The NCAA Regional Championship will be a two-day meet and will be held at one of six locations, April 3-4. The NCAA National Championship will once again be held in Fort Worth, Texas, and will run April 17-18.
