University of Georgia junior gymnast Megan Roberts has been named the Southeastern Conference Gymnastics Specialist of the Week after her stellar performance against Kentucky.
This is the first weekly honor for the Toronto native who is ranked No. 14 nationally on vault.
Roberts highlighted Georgia’s season-best performance against Kentucky with three career-high scores and two event titles. She matched her top score of 9.950 on vault to win the event title for the third time this season. She continued to shine with a 9.925 on bars- the highest bars score of the night and another matched career-high, which is also her best of the season. She contributed her third career-high on floor as Georgia’s leading scorer with a 9.900.
The GymDogs head to Huntsville, Ala., next to compete in the SEC Championship on Saturday, March 20. Georgia is seeded seventh and will start competition on beam in Session I, beginning at 2:30 p.m. CT.
