The Georgia gymnastics team will host Missouri on Saturday, February 3 for its annual “Pink Meet” to begin at 2 p.m. with coverage on the SEC Network. 

Additionally, the meet will serve as the “Alumni Meet”.  Members of the 1993, 1998, and 2008 teams will be recognized pre-meet. All other GymDog alumni and breast cancer survivors in attendance will form a tunnel for the team to run through.

GYMDOGS IN THE RANKINGS                                                              

Georgia is ranked No. 14 on the RoadtoNationals.com weekly rankings list with an average of 195.994 after its road loss to Arkansas.

The vault squad slipped to No. 11 this week with an average score of 49.006, while the bars team moved up to No. 8.  Georgia is ranked No. 20 and No. 16 on beam and floor, respectively.

Junior Sydney Snead and sophomore Rachel Dickson are tied for 22nd on bars.  Dickson moved up two spots to 20th on floor, while sophomore Sabrina Vega sits at No. 16 for the event.

LAST TIME OUT

The No. 11 Georgia gymnastics team (1-3, 1-2) fell at No. 10 Arkansas (1-3, 1-3) with a final score of 197.175-196.125 on Friday night in the Barnhill Arena.

Junior Sydney Snead earned the all-around title with an all-around career high score of 39.525.  Snead also earned the event title on bars with a season-best 9.900 and posted her career high score on beam (9.925).

For the second time this season, Georgia posted its highest rotation score of the meet on bars. Snead and freshman Marissa Oakley scored career highs.  Snead tied her best with a 9.9 and Oakley improved her best by .075 with a 9.875.

SCOUTING MISSOURI

Missouri travels to Athens with a 1-2 record after facing three Southeastern Conference opponents to start the season.  The Tigers are coming off a loss at then-No. 7 Alabama, 195.850-194.525.  Like the Bulldogs, the Tigers’ lone victory came inside their own arena.

PROMOTIONS

All students in the GymDog Pound lower level student section will receive a pink t-shirt. The first 1,000 fans will receive a Kim Arnold bobblehead.  Following the meet there will be a “Selfie Session” where kids will be allowed to meet the GymDogs and take photos with them.  Fans may begin lining up for the “Selfie Session” at the end of the meet on the Smith St. concourse.
