Gymdogs senior Brandie Jay was named SEC co-Gymnast of the Week, sharing the title with Auburn’s Caitlin Atkinson, announced by the league on Tuesday morning.
Jay earned the honor after arguably the best performance of her career, one in which she helped lead Georgia to its best team score of the season and an upset of No. 5 LSU. In the meet, Jay took home the high scores in floor (9.925) and all-around (39.675) among all competing gymnasts.
With her performance on the floor against LSU, Jay can now claim event titles on vault, bars and floor as well as all-around performance this season.
The Fort Collins, Colorado native posted career highs on bars (9.925), beam (9.900), and all-around against LSU. Additionally, her 9.925 on floor represented a season high.
The Gymdogs return to action on Saturday as they host No. 1 Oklahoma at 4 p.m. The meet will stream live on SEC Network + and on the WatchESPN app.
