The 7th-ranked Gymdogs take on the top-ranked and undefeated Sooners this evening at 8:00 p.m. ET at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Oklahoma. It is the second-consecutive week that the Georgia gymnastics team has faced No. 1 Oklahoma. The meet will be streamed live on SoonerSports.TV.
The Gymdogs received their highest rank of the season as the first Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) standings were announced, moving up to No. 7 from 10th last week.
The meet will represent the first time since 2002 that the Gymdogs clash against the nation’s No. 1 team in back-to-back weeks during the regular season (UCLA). Counting postseason play, this is the first time since 2013 that Georgia has competed against the team atop the polls in consecutive meets (Florida).
Georgia and Oklahoma met last week in St. Charles, Missouri at the Mardi Gras Invitational, where the Gymdogs took their best road score of the season – 196.975. Oklahoma posted its third-best-ever score as a program with a 198.350, headlined by a perfect 10 from Maggie Nichols on beam.
Freshman Rachel Dickson was named SEC Gymnast of the Week for her performance, where she set new career highs on bars (9.95), beam (9.925) and all-around (39.55) to help lead the Gymdogs.
Senior Ashlyn Broussard (beam) and junior Gigi Marino (floor) also claimed 9.95s in the meet.
