The GymDogs will be hosting its first Tri-Meet since 2001 in Stegeman Coliseum on Valentine’s Day for the Georgia gymnastics team’s annual Pink Meet. The GymDogs will be competing against Ball State and Eastern Michigan starting at 7:00 p.m. ET this evening on Friday, February 14th.
This is the first time in program history that Georgia has competed against either school in gymnastics.
Georgia is coming off its highest road score of the season with a 196.750 against Arkansas’ score of 196.950. In that meet, senior Sabrina Vega scored her fourth 9.950 of the season on floor and took home the event title. Vega and freshman Haley De Jong shared the event title on beam with two Razorbacks after scoring a 9.925.
BACK-to-BACK SEC SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK HONORS FOR SABRINA VEGA
For the second consecutive week, senior Sabrina Vega was recognized as Southeastern Conference Specialist of the Week. This week she shares the honor with Sophia Carter of the University of Arkansas.
In Georgia’s tight road contest at Arkansas, the Carmel, New York native scored her fourth 9.950 of the season on floor. She also stuck a 9.925 on beam, matching her season-high marks on both apparatuses. Additionally, Vega’s performances earned her the event titles for beam and floor, her second and fourth crowns of her senior campaign on the respective events.
She was also given the honor last week after a stellar performance in Georgia’s 197.425-196.350 win over Auburn.
The Carmel, New York native took home the floor and beam event titles after solid routines. Vega was nearly perfect on floor, receiving a 10 from one judge, resulting in a 9.950 to match her season-best score. She moon-walked her way to her highest score of the season on beam with a 9.925.
With the final performance of the meet she helped the GymDogs finish the fourth rotation with a 49.600 on floor, marking the highest score of all events in head coach Courtney Kupets Carter’s tenure.

The GymDogs scored five 9.900s or better on floor against Auburn, posting a 49.600 in the final rotation.
This marks the highest score of any event under head coach Courtney Kupets Carter.
VEGA EARNS FIRST FLOOR EVENT TITLE ON THE ROAD SINCE 2018
Senior Sabrina Vega is the first Georgia gymnast to earn the floor event title on the road since Sydney Snead scored a 9.90 at Kentucky in 2018. Vega scored her fourth 9.950 of the season at Arkansas on February 7, 2020.
UNDERCLASSMEN PERFORM
Nineteen out of 24 total routines in a given meet are performed by underclassmen. The Georgia lineup is made up predominately of freshmen and sophomores with junior Marissa Oakley and senior Sabrina Vega performing a combined five routines.

After tonight’s Pink Meet Tri-Meet, Georgia will travel to Lexington, KY next Friday, February 21st to take on the Wildcats. That meet is scheduled to begin also at 7:00 p.m. ET.
