For the third time in six years, the University of Georgia will serve as one of six host sites for an NCAA Gymnastics Regional in 2016. The competition will be held at Stegeman Coliseum on Saturday, April 2, and teams and all-around competitors advancing out of the regional championships will compete at the NCAA Championships in Forth Worth, Texas, April 15-17.

It was previously announced that Florida would host an NCAA Regional in 2016 and Georgia in 2017, but renovation of UF’s Stephen C. O’Connell Center was moved back a year, so UGA and Florida agreed to swap.

“We’re thrilled to host another NCAA Regional this coming season,” said UGA coach Danna Durante. “It will be exciting for our fans to see high-level gymnastics in a postseason setting, and I know the other teams and individuals coming in will enjoy the experience of competing here in Athens.”

The other NCAA Regional sites for 2016 include Tuscaloosa, Ala., Salt Lake City, Ann Arbor, Mich., Iowa City, Iowa, and Minneapolis.

This will be the 10th time that Georgia has served as host to an NCAA Regional. The Gymdogs have won 24 regional titles, including the 2015 Cal-Berkeley Regional.

Georgia’s full 2016 schedule, which includes home meets against Auburn, Florida, Oklahoma, Stanford and LSU, will be announced at a later date.
