Head coach Kirby Smart knows what Cortez Hankton brings to the program. Smart talked about the wealth of experience Hankton brings and how he continues to do a great job.
“I think he brings a wealth of experience at the position. He commands a lot of respect in that room. He has brought a lot of good ideas to our offense. I think he’s taken a wide receiver group that was talented, and he has made them more productive,” Smart said. “Our quarterback play has been good. Offensive coordinator has done a good job. But Coach Hankton has brought kind of a by‑committee job to the receivers’ corps where it’s not just one guy. But he has done a great job of doing that. I know he’s from New Orleans, and I know he’s excited to be coming home.”
Hankton is in his first year at Georgia after he left Vanderbilt for the position. He has already shown his worth at Georgia, and Smart already likes what he brings to the table. As Smart said, he has made this fully loaded receiver room more productive.
Whether it was them catching crucial passes or them setting pivotal blocks, they produced on the field. Hankton is to thank for that, and Tuesday’s game won’t be any different. Expect his group to shine against the Longhorns.
