Welcome to the Bulldawg Illustrated Hoops Report: Georgia vs Missouri. It’s like being so far behind, you think you’re ahead. And that’s the way things shook out last Saturday night as Texas A&M throttled the Dawgs in a way I’ve never seen against a Mark Fox team. While I’ve seen some much better teams take us to the woodshed, I’ve never seen a team equal in talent do what they did. The Dawgs were really never in it. The lead was double digits quickly. It swelled to 15 at the half. And never got closer. No one really showed up to play at all, other than Texas A&M.

Up next is Missouri. They started off the year with a very mediocre out of conference record. It hasn’t been much better in the SEC. While they did beat Auburn, they lost to South Carolina and got dismantled by the Dawgs and Arkansas. I hate to say this is a must-win game this early in the year on the road, but it’s about as close as it gets. But before we discuss Mizzou, let’s revisit the A&M nightmare.

A&M was a good teams in their first year in the SEC and the Dawgs beat them twice. I think the Dawgs were actually 5-0 against them since they entered the conference. Well, when things turn, they sometimes turn hard. They tried to get all five games back at once. And came pretty close. I’m still totally clueless as far as figuring out what happened. So since I’m at a loss, there’s really nothing else to say about this game. Whether you lose but three, four, or 34, it’s one loss.

So we now head to Mizzou with a home conference loss. Since you’ll now need at least four SEC road wins to make the NCAAs, you can’t afford to let this opportunity pass by. Mizzou is young and they’re not good right now. That doesn’t mean they won’t get better, but now is not their time. I would think coming off a shellacking like we just took, everyone comes out with fire in the belly and is ready to play. I don’t see how we wouldn’t be physically and mentally prepared to play at a high level. One would think the Dawgs show up and bury the Tigers. However, this is life in the SEC and nothing is for sure on the road. Plus, I’m not sure how a Mark Fox coached team responds to a bounce back game like this because I’ve never seen one of his teams lay an egg before that was comparable to this past Saturday night. This team has a lot of talent but has been inconsistent all year. That’s a problem. We must fix that immediately because we need to go 3-1 in our next four and that won’t be easy. It all starts Wednesday night. I’m very interested to see what happens. Go Dawgs!
