With Georgia having a bye this weekend in week number 5 of the college football season, how did their opponents fair?

The Bulldogs most recent competition, Notre Dame, which left Athens with a 23-17 loss last Saturday, had to host a tough top-20 matchup with No. 18 and 4-0 Virginia. It looked like the physical battle with UGA effected the Irish earlier on as the Cavaliers led at the half 17-14, but Notre Dame would flex their muscle, dominate the second half, and defeat Virginia 35-20. The Fight Irish have figured out some things on defense when it comes to stopping the run and only allowed the Cavaliers to 4 yards on the ground on 29 carries.

The Dawgs next opponent, Tennessee, which Georgia will take on up in Knoxville on Saturday, October 5th at 7:00 p.m. EST, had a bye week as well. But UGA’s Oct. 12 opponent, South Carolina, hosted a 2-2 Kentucky team in Columbia. The Gamecocks dominated the Wildcats 24-7. Georgia will close out the month of October on the 19th at home with Kentucky before their second bye of the season.

To start the month of November and week 10 of the college football season, the Bulldogs travel to Jacksonville, FL to take on SEC East rival, Florida on November 2nd. How did the Gators’ weekend go? They beat up on FCS opponent Towson 38-0. No. 9 Florida will host a No. 7 Auburn Tiger team next weekend for a top-10 showdown in The Swamp that will feature ESPN’s College GameDay.

Speaking of Auburn, the Dawgs’ November 16th opponent, the Tigers took care of business and handed Mississippi State a 56-23 loss on The Plains. The game was over in the first half as Auburn took a 42-9 lead into the locker room and then cruised in the second.

The game before that the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry, though, is Missouri in Athens on November 9th. The other Tiger team on Georgia’s schedule had a bye as well.

After last weekend’s big game with Notre Dame, Georgia’s next biggest home game is most likely the Texas A&M matchup on November 23rd. The Aggies had trouble with some Hogs on Saturday in Arlington in the Southwest Classic at AT&T Stadium in what was one of the more entertaining games of the day. In a game that saw four lead changes, the Razorbacks took a 24-21 lead into the fourth quarter, but A&M would score 10 points in the 4th and hold Arkansas to a field goal to survive 31-27.

The Bulldogs will finish out their regular season schedule in Atlanta in Clean Old Fashioned Hate against Tech. So how did the Jackets do? Jeff Dantzler and many die-hard Dawg fans will like to hear that after getting beat by the Citadel last week 27-24, the North Avenue Trade School got schooled by Temple 24-2, current Yellow Jackets Head Coach Geoff Collins former team.

Overall, Georgia’s remaining opponents went 4-2 with two teams, Tennesse and Missouri having byes like the Bulldogs.
