Isaac Nauta: “You Just have to Keep Rolling.”

Isaac Nauta spoke to the media earlier this week on Wednesday and the sophomore tight end was full of his usual personality. However, with 6-0 Georgia hosting a struggling 1-4 Missouri team for homecoming, the big thing coming from Nauta was how the team just has to keep rolling. He mentioned how the team goes day-by-day versus looking ahead.

Head coach Kirby Smart talks about taking the season day-by-day and not getting complacent. The message seems to have sunk in and carried over to the sophomore tight end like it has for much of the 2017 Georgia team as he told the media that you can’t look ahead you just have to keep rolling.

Thats the big thing. Taking it every day by day, week by week,” Nauta said. “You just have to prepare for the next one and can’t look ahead and you can’t look back. You just have to keep rolling.”

The Missouri game comes before a big bye week for Georgia as that game in Jacksonville with the Gator looms on the horizon. When team’s start to look ahead is when bad things can happen. He talked about the team’s focus is on Saturday and Missouri, nothing else.

The moment you start to relax and feel like you’re almost to a break. That’s when you can get in a bad situation,” Nauta states. “You want to keep pushing and when we get to the break we get there. The only thing we are worried about right now is Saturday and working hard through the rest of the week and preparing for Missouri.”

Nauta continued the conversation about this team and how they are different. Not only do they not allow themselves to be complacent but he felt like they are a completely different program from last year. He mentioned the culture of the program and how he and fellow teammate Javon Wims noticed the change.

Everybody was buying into the culture, buying into the program,” Nauta says. “Nobody was late to workouts no one was late to meetings and the whole overall feel we could tell people were buying in and we want to do something special.”

After going 6-0 for the first time in 12 years, the culture isn’t the same and there is something special about this 2017 team. They just keep rolling and pushing toward the overall goal. Nauta is just one of the players to buy in, and it seems like the entire team has done so. Hopefully, we will see that result versus Missouri tonight.
