Isaac Nauta spoke to the media Tuesday for the first time of the 2018 football season. The junior tight end seemed ready to get back on the field and play football again. After the way, Georgia’s season ended, it’s evident the team’s hungrier than ever.

Nauta mentioned he thinks the team’s past the national championship loss. That the sour end to the season creates a hunger to get back to that moment. Its been two months since the national championship game, which appears to be plenty of time to get over it.

I think we’re past it, but I think it creates a hunger,” Nauta says. “Because you get a little taste of it and you want to get back. It’s a good feeling knowing that we got football today. We get another taste of it and see where we’re at and see where we can grow and get better. Hopefully, it’ll be a good starting point for us heading into next season.”

Head coach Kirby Smart mentioned in his press conference about competition. Smart loves a good competition and this year it seems every position has a ton of competition. Nauta tells the media that high expectations don’t even come close to the ones Georgia has.

Nobody’s got higher expectations than us,” Nauta states. “We’re going to embrace it everyday with the way we work and the way we grind. There’s a ton of competition out there at every position. I  think there will be a lot of great battles and it’s going to create a good culture.”

Nauta seems to be ready to suit up for football season in March. With 14 practices to go, it’ll be interesting watching these competitions unfold. Along with seeing just how high Georgia’s expectations are for the 2018 season.
