One of the big questions during the 2019 offseason for the Georgia Bulldogs has been redshirt freshman running back Zamir White who is coming off back-to-back torn ACL’s. Offensive lineman Isaiah Wilson talked “Zeus” in his post-practice interview on Tuesday afternoon that was an encouraging sign. Wilson, who will be entering his third season at the University of Georgia, said he was “impressed” by White.

“I wouldn’t say I am surprised, but it is extremely impressive. When Zamir (White) came here, I knew he had a great work ethic. I could tell by the way he was lifting helped his arms. I could see the type of grind he was in the first time he went through this injury. So it’s not really surprising to us in the building,” said Isaiah Wilson. “But it’s extremely impressive to see somebody bounce back from two ACL’s and still keep on kickin’, truckin’ and running as fast as he does.”

Wilson smiled when he was asked if there had been a “wow” moment that involved White.

“I would say he hit the hole and it didn’t look like no one wanted a part of him,” said Isaiah Wilson. “He just burst through the hole and out of nowhere, he was 20-yards down the field.”

And Wilson isn’t the only one that has been impressed with Zamir White this Fall Camp. The players, the coaches, and the fans, everybody is pulling for “Zeus.” Head Coach Kirby Smart had this to say about White after Saturday’s scrimmage.

“That’s human nature. When you see a guy go through what he’s been through, who’s not pulling for Zamir White?  Every guy on our staff and every guy on our team has seen his ups and downs and the rehab he’s done.  He’s been on the sideline for the whole year just working out and running. When he gets an opportunity to go out there and have an opportunity for some success, I think everyone is pulling for him,” said Kirby Smart.  “Defensive players, it’s not easy to pull for him because you have to tackle him.  And it’s not easy tackling him because he’s a full-grown man when he’s running the ball.”

Whether it is for 1-yard or a 50-yard scamper down the sideline for a touchdown the first time White gets an opportunity to run the ball this season, I think it is safe to say that everybody in Bulldog Nation will let out a collective sigh followed by a jubilant celebration. The very first ones will probably his offensive linemen made up of Isaiah Wilson and company, and it very well could be in Georgia’s first game versus Vanderbilt on August 31st.
