[break] Jack Dorsey, a two-time first-team All-SEC forward from 1974-75, will represent Georgia as part of the 2015 class of the Allstate SEC Basketball Legends, as announced today by the league office in Birmingham. This group, which includes one ex-player or coach from each of the 14 member institutions, will be honored at the SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament March 11-15 in Nashville, Tenn.

Each Allstate SEC Basketball legend will be recognized at halftime of his institution’s first tournament game. Select legends will also make appearances at the Sunkist Soda SEC FanFare exhibition, which will be open Thursday-Saturday, March 12-14.

Dorsey, a product of Archer High School in Atlanta, was regarded as one of the SEC’s most exciting players during his brief collegiate career. The Atlanta native made an instant impact for the Bulldogs, ranking second in the SEC, and 12th in the nation, in scoring averaging 25.8 points per game, earning him a spot on the All-SEC first-team as a freshman. He was a consensus All-SEC honoree for the 1975 season as well, averaging 21.8 points per game during his sophomore campaign. Dorsey turned professional following his sophomore season and was selected by the New Orleans Jazz in the second round of the 1976 NBA Draft. He went on to spend five seasons in the NBA.

This marks the 17th year of the SEC Basketball Legends program.
