All eyes are on the quarterback battle this spring for Georgia, as last year’s starter and veteran Greyson Lambert will do his best to hold off freshman phenom and early enrollee Jacob Eason as well as redshirt junior Brice Ramsey and preferred walk-on, redshirt freshman Nick Robinson. While no one expects the quarterback position to be sorted out in the first week of spring practice, just how well is the new kid on the block with a cannon for an arm fairing?
Head Coach Kirby Smart likes what he sees out of Jacob Eason so far, especially that arm strength, but emphasizes that the freshman quarterback is still learning and improving after just one week of being put to the test.
“I tell you, I like his arm talent. We knew he was blessed with great arm talent. Jacob (Eason) is a kid that make a lot of throws out there. He can make some big time throws with his arm. He’s still growing through a learning curve. He’s still getting in and out of the huddle, enunciating all the words in the call. Leadership in the huddle is very important, but he has improved in that area over a three day period. He ahas done that each day. He’s improved. He’s got to continue to do that for 15 complete practices.”
