The time has come: Gatorade National Football Player of the Year Jacob Eason is heading to Hollywood for the 14th annual Gatorade High School Athlete of the Year ceremony, prior to the 2016 ESPY Awards!
The Lake Stevens High star has his bags packed for Hollywood where he will face off against the top prep athletes in America as a nominee for the 2015-16 Gatorade Male High School Athlete of the Year award. In its 14th year, the Gatorade Male and Female Athlete of the Year award has become the most prestigious honor in high school sports.

The winners will be named at a dinner emceed by ESPN NBA Countdown Host Sage Steele on Tuesday, July 12, in Hollywood. Awards will be presented by the Carolina Panthers’ Cam Newton, Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves (2014 Gatorade High School Athlete of the Year, 2013-14 Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year) and Abby Wambach, 2015 Women’s World Cup Champion and 1997-98 Gatorade New York Girls Soccer Player of the Year, among others.

As part of the honor of being nominated for this year’s award, Jacob and his fellow nominees will walk the Red Carpet prior to the ESPY Awards, broadcast on ABC on Wednesday, July 13.
Since 1985, Gatorade has recognized state and national Players of the Year in 12 sports (six male, six female). In addition to athletic performance, Gatorade Players of the Year must excel in the classroom and demonstrate strong character. Winners are selected by a panel of nationwide sportswriters and commentators.
