Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm has made the decision to forgo his senior season and enter his name into the NFL Draft.

Fromm was a 4-star rated quarterback out of Warner Robins, GA who committed to UGA on March 3rd, 2016, and enrolled in classes early in January of 2017. Fromm originally was verbally committed to Alabama but then flipped his decision to become a Bulldog.

Fromm quickly learned his role on the team after sophomore Jacob Eason went down in the first half during the 2017 season opener against Appalachian State. That season, Fromm went on to lead Georgia to an 11-1 regular-season record, an SEC Championship victory over Auburn, not to mention a College Football Playoff birth and win over Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl before coming up one play short against Alabama in the National Championship Game.

Fast forward to his junior year, Fromm is 36-7 as a starter at the helm in Athens which places him as one of the best quarterbacks in Bulldogs’ history.

In his career, Fromm has led Georgia to win the SEC East three consecutive years with perfect records against conference rivals Tennessee and Florida as well as in-state rival Georgia Tech. Fromm is also 3-1 against rival Auburn. In addition to wins over SEC and in-state rivals, he also has two non-conference victories over college football historic powerhouse Notre Dame.

This past season, Fromm received a lot of criticism because his completion percentage and his numbers being down compared to his first two years at Georgia. Head coach Kirby Smart defended Fromm after the SEC Championship game loss to LSU.

“The first two years, Jake’s numbers were better, so the indicator of that was four wide receivers were on our sideline that were drafted that are playing in the NFL,” Smart said. “And the loss of those wideouts, the vertical threat, has probably hurt our team. That’s my responsibility, right, to replace them. That’s my responsibility to replace them in recruiting, and we probably haven’t done a good enough job of that.”

Before this year’s game against Florida, both Smart and Fromm met for lunch and talked things over in regards to the offense.

“I had those lunches to talk, to communicate,” Smart revealed in the postgame press conference after Georgia bested Florida “I think relationships are important, to communicate, and to talk and hang out.”

After that game, Smart set the record straight that Fromm is a competitor and no-doubt the criticism he received, that he was the guy he wanted running his offense.

“He’s had a lot of people that have questioned him, and he is a chip-on-his-shoulder guy,” Smart said. “Y’all have seen it over and over again, where people doubt and continue to doubt and he continues to rise above it. He’s not a silver-spoon fed kid; he’s a working kid. He works himself into it, he wills himself into it. I’m really proud of the way he played and led his team.”

Currently, Fromm is fourth all-time in school history with 8,262 career passing yards with only Eric Zeier, David Greene, and Aaron Murray ahead of him. Fromm’s 78 touchdowns is second all-time in school history behind Murray’s 121, and he has only thrown 18 interceptions. Out of the top-10 Georgia quarterbacks in school history, only DJ Shockley and Hutson Mason have thrown fewer. Fromm has a 63.3 career pass completion percentage and has a pass efficiency rating of 156.2.
