Current Bulldog swimmer Javier Acevedo and former Bulldog Chantal Van Landeghem won bronze medals as members of Canada’s mixed 4×100-meter freestyle relay on Saturday at the 17th FINA World Championships at Danube Arena.

 
Acevedo swam the second leg in 48.68, followed by Van Landeghem on the third leg in 53.25. Canada’s time of 3:23.55 trailed the United States’ world record of 3:19.60 and the Netherlands’ 3:21.81.
 
 
During prelims, Van Landeghem swam the anchor leg, recording a 53.40 to cap Canada’s third-place showing of 3:25.07.
 
 
Acevedo also placed 16th in the men’s 50-meter backstroke on Saturday with a time of 25.13. He posted an effort of 25.16 during Saturday’s prelims.
 
 
Van Landeghem capped her Georgia career in March, while Acevedo is a rising sophomore.
 
 
Also Saturday, former Lady Bulldog Ginger Fields Huber came in ninth in women’s 20-meter high diving. She finished with 246.90 points, with 79.80 points coming on her inward triple somersault with a half twist in the tuck position.
 
 
The swimming portion of the 17th FINA World Championships will conclude on Sunday.
