It was a loaded weekend of college football, with several battles in the Southeastern Conference shaping the playoff race. It is a weekly game of survival in the SEC. Indiana is the team of the week for going out to Eugene and beating Oregon. Penn State has had its season fall on tough times and is now looking for a new coach..

1. Ohio State – The Buckeyes defense, and they played very well against Illinois. Ohio State’s 34-16 victory boosted the record to 6-0 and 3-0 in the Big Ten. Next up is Wisconsin in Madison. The Badgers just got drubbed by the Iowa Hawkeyes.

2. Miami – The Hurricanes were off this past Saturday and enjoying their wins over Florida, Florida State and South Florida. Miami can fly around defensively and the offense has playmakers. Next up is a Friday night affair down south with the Louisville Cardinals.

3. Ole MIss – The Rebels were favored by over 30 points against Washington State, and escaped with a 24-21 win. But they are undefeated and fully loaded for an SEC mega showdown with the Georgia Bulldogs Saturday Between the Hedges.

4. Texas A&M – The Aggies are 6-0 and dreaming big. Their last four wins have come at Notre Dame, and at home versus Auburn, Mississippi State and then last week against the Gators. It’s off to Arkansas this week, and the first of three straight on the road.

5. Indiana – It has to go down as one of the most significant victories in Hoosiers football history. Indiana, which made the College Football Playoff a year ago, rolled into Eugene and took down Oregon 30-20. No letdown Hoosiers, Michigan State heads to town.

6. Texas Tech – Those Red Raiders are rolling and in the mix for everything. Texas Tech jumped to a big lead and then pulled away from Kansas 42-17 in Lubbock. They have a tough road game coming up Saturday afternoon at Arizona State.

7. Tech – The Yellow Jackets are rolling in Atlanta, and off to their first 6-0 start in 14 years. Haynes King is having a tremendous season for Tech at quarterback. The Yellow Jackets go to Duke Saturday in what should be a high scoring affair.

8. Alabama – The Crimson Tide once again found a way on the road, edging Missouri 27-24 in Columbia. Ty Simpson is having a fantastic season at quarterback. Well now it’s the third Saturday in October, and the Crimson Tide welcomes Tennessee to town.

9. LSU – The Tigers were a 20-10 winner over South Carolina, bumping the record to 5-1 on the season. The SEC gauntlet takes LSU to Vanderbilt Saturday in the first of three straight against ranked foes. The LSU defense has sharpened its claws.

10. Oregon – The Ducks took it on the chin against Indiana, falling 30-20 in Eugene this past Saturday. Gameday was there, dark and early. The rest of the schedule is very manageable, and Oregon aims to bounce back Saturday at home versus Rutgers.

11. Georgia – The Bulldogs fell behind Auburn 10-0 this past Saturday, but rallied back for a 20-10 win to improve to 5-1 and 3-1 in the rugged SEC. Georgia faces one of its toughest challenges of the season Saturday in Athens, hosting Ole Miss.

12. Memphis – The Tigers had this past Saturday off to enjoy their 6-0 start to the season. Memphis is putting up impressive numbers, especially offensively. The Tigers head to UAB Saturday, trying not to look ahead for a big one at home against USF.
