ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia’s Jillian Hollis was named the SEC’s Women’s Golfer of the Week on Wednesday by the league office in Birmingham, Ala.

Last Sunday, Hollis fired a school-record 7-under 65 en route to winning the PING/ASU Invitational in Tempe, Ariz. That tied the single-round mark set by Vicki Goetze on the same ASU Karsten Golf Course in the final round of the 1992 NCAA Championships. 

Hollis, a junior from Rocky River, Ohio, completed the 54-hole event at 9-under 207, tying the fourth-best score in program history.

Hollis captured her second-consecutive victory. She also won medalist honors at the 3M Augusta Invitational the previous weekend. In the process, Hollis became the first Bulldog to post back-to-back wins since Shauna Estes did so at the 1999 Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic and SEC Championships.

Hollis now sports a stroke average of 70.69 over 13 rounds this season. That’s well under the current school record of 71.52 by Marta Silva Zamora when she won 2011 National Golfer of the Year accolades.

Georgia will return to action in two weeks when the Bulldogs host the 46th annual Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic at the UGA Golf Course. The tournament will be contested April 13-15 and no admission will be charged to watch the event.
