Georgia women’s tennis junior Katarina Jokic was named winner of the Bringing Back Tennis Event held by Exo-Tennis in Atlanta on Thursday evening.

Jokic compiled a record of 6-1 throughout the tournament in which the tennis world came together to bring back live action to the people – one match at a time. Through PlaySight, LiveU, Sportradar, Global Tennis Service, Fields Club and ACE Tennis Academy all joining forces, utilizing technology in new and innovative ways to bring back tennis to the players and fans, while respecting the important measures society is asking to take to fight against the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The round robin tournament began on Monday, May 18. Jokic took down Katie Poulta 6-2, 6-3 before taking on WTA ranked No. 305 Ellie Halbauer 4-6, 6-4, 10-8 sealing up a comeback victory.

In the second day of competition she lost her first and only match of the event to No. 422 Paige Hourigan 6-3, 5-7, 9-11 but bounced back with a win over Tennessee’s Carly Briggs 6-1, 6-3.

The next round she faced off against No. 288 Grace Min defeating her 6-1, 6-3 then moved on to No. 73 Taylor Townshed defeating her 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) for two huge wins to set her up for the final day of play.

She then squared up against No. 158 Sachia Vickery 6-2, 6-1 before advancing to the four play-off matches between first and second seed, third and fourth, fifth and sixth and seventh and eighth.

Going in as the two seed at 5-1, she would get another shot against Hourigan and got the redemption she needed, defeating her 6-3, 6-7, 10-6 finishing atop the first Women’s Exo-Event.
