Georgia outfielder Keegan McGovern has been named to the Freshman All-SEC baseball team, the league announced Monday.
[su_spacer size=”40″] McGovern, a 6-3, 207-pound native of Willacoochee, Ga., appeared in 48 games with 43 starts in left field. He batted .268 with nine doubles, three home runs and 17 RBI and posted a perfect fielding percentage in 69 total chances. He registered 11 multi-hit games including an impressive debut in the season opener when he went 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBI against Eastern Illinois. Also, McGovern tallied three-hit games against Florida State and on the road versus Alabama and Auburn.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Starting in 2005, SEC coaches have selected an 11-member Freshman All-SEC squad. McGovern joins Bulldog pitcher Joshua Fields (2005), third baseman Colby May (2009), outfielder Hunter Cole (2012) and pitcher Sean McLaughlin (2013) to be selected to the team.

State) and Coach of the Year (Paul Mainieri, LSU).
