Kendall Milton Says Dawgs Are “Hungry As Ever”

Kendall Milton and AD Mitchell spoke to the media today before Saturday’s matchup vs. Samford. After a slaughtering against Oregon this past weekend, the two offensive playmakers assured everyone in attendance that they should not expect any dropoff this weekend versus a presumed inferior opponent in the Samford Bulldogs.

Kendall Milton spoke first and was immediately asked numerous questions about this past weekend’s performance. The talented running back racked up eight carries for 50 yards and a touchdown while also tacking on a reception that resulted in a 18-yard touchdown. Not bad for a player who has dealt with multiple injuries since arriving at UGA. The California native said he is back to 100%, which should be a scary sight for opposing defenses. Milton, known for his power and ability to run downhill, spoke about his work in the off-season with running backs coach Dell McGee. Milton said he spoke to McGee at the beginning of the offseason, informing the coach of his desire to become a more well-rounded back. Kendall told the media they put in many hours together working on catching passes and pass blocking.

After the conversation moved forward, focusing on the upcoming games, Kendall stated that UGA has everything they need to compete for another national championship saying specifically that Georgia is “hungry as ever.” He said that Georgia plays in an offense that “showcases everyone’s talent,” which certainly seems to be the case after the first seven drives of the game for the Bulldog offense resulted in 7 touchdowns. With Kendall beyond adamant that there will be no drop-off come this week, expect Todd Monken to utilize these Georgia playmakers early against Samford.

When AD Mitchell took the stand, he started by addressing a quote from Coach Smart that has been uttered around the program this season, “the standard doesn’t need motivation.” The sophomore wideout said that it’s all about preparation at the end of the day and that Georgia is preparing for this upcoming week the same way they would be for the National Championship.

Mitchell also spent a considerable amount of the interview praising his teammates. He spoke highly about Kenny McIntosh’s receiving skills. The wideout said, “the way I see it, get him the ball.” He also said that he expects Arik Gilbert to contribute to a higher role soon. Mitchell, who played a significant role last year in the receiving game as a true freshman, offered advice to young receiver Dillion Bell before the game. He told the young freshman to believe in his preparation and that the coaches wouldn’t put him in the game if he weren’t prepared. Mitchell also talked highly about Stetson Bennett, specifically regarding his confidence and leadership.

Milton and Mitchell appear to be locked in after the demolition in Atlanta this past weekend. The Bulldogs’ star offensive weapons are full of confidence heading into this week’s game and will certainly be utilized heavily. With the season still as young as it is, expect these two to be at the forefront of national conversations about why the Georgia Bulldogs are once again one of the best teams in the country.
