Legendary Bulldog Hall of Fame record setter and Chicago Bears star and Super Bowl champion Kevin Butler gives us his MVP’s from each Georgia game in all three phases. Butler co-hosts Dawg Talk Pregame and Postgame every Saturday during the season, and The Bulldog Brunch from the Hilltop Grille from 10-12 on Sunday mornings.
OFFENSE
Kearis Jackson – The redshirt sophomore from Fort Valley, Georgia was the “Peach” of Georgia’s offense Saturday night against the lowly Auburn Tigerbirds. After an injury in the first game last year against Vandy, Kearis worked his way back into the starting wide receiver spot and UGA is lucky to have him. Stetson Bennett hooked up with Kearis nine times for 147 yards, with a long of 49, as he dominated the Auburn secondary. When teams commit to double covering George Pickens they will now have to account for Kearis Jackson whereabouts … he’s dangerous, fast and can hurt any opponent when the ball is in Kearis’s hands. Not only does he make an impact on offense, his special teams play is at a higher level then most in the SEC to boot! Now show the Vols what it’s like to be a Bulldog. A winner!
DEFENSE
Azeez Ojulari – It was the redshirt sophomores’ show this week against Auburn. The PlainEagles were beat down by the Georgia defense that was led by Azeez Ojular. Azeez is one of the best outside linebackers in the country and his play Saturday proves that point. AO accounted for five tackles – three solo tackles that resulted in three tackles for losses totaling 15 yards. Add one sack and you have a dominating performance from #13. On a defense that has tremendous depth, Azeez has to bring game every play to stay on the field and that he did Saturday. He is disruptive – he is fast- he is physical – he is Azeez- He is a DGD! Beat the Vols!
SPECIAL TEAMS
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint – the freshman from Pompano Beach Florida has been making a name for himself playing on the special teams. Last week he contributed tackles on kickoffs and continued this week with another ST Tackle. At 6-2, 190-pound this freshman makes his presence felt by committing 100% effort each and every play. We need freshmen to step up and become a factor on special teams. Once you start to make your name on ST play, that when you become a mainstay on the starting offense or defense. Marcus is determined and physical and that makes him a bright prospect for the future of the Bulldogs. Plus he has a really cool name!!!
Unsung hero
The athletic department led by Josh Brooks and his incredible staff. The construction of “COVID” Dooley Field was not taken lightly by the Dawgs. Careful consideration and planning enable UGA to provide safe, socially correct seating for the 20k fans in attendance. In the age of COVID, change is the new normal. UGA can make the changes needed to support our great team march towards a National Championship. Thank you UGA for thinking of everyone involved. Go Dogs! Mask UP!
