Offensive Player
Sedrick Van Pran-Granger – Georgia’s redshirt freshman starting center from The Big Easy, New Orleans, Louisiana had a big time game in the Bulldogs 37-0 whipping of the Hogs. Matt Luke’s offensive line was lights out all day, and Sedrick was a big part of that. He had a particularly noticeable block on Kendall Milton’s touchdown to give Georgia a 14-0 lead – with big Jalen Carter plowing the road behind him. Sedrick is emerging as a big time player for an offensive line that has its best days and games ahead of it. This unit will have to be at its best against those Auburn Tigers Saturday on the plains. Keep it up Sedrick!
Defensive Player
DeVonte Wyatt – When you have had Sam Pittman as a coach and then he is the head coach of Arkansas coming into your backyard to beat you – Well let’s say there is NO Motivation needed. DeVonte Wyatt has a great deal of respect to take the challenge lightly. He dominated an out matched Arkansas offensive line making six total tackles, three solo with a sack for a 9-yard loss and keeping KJ Jefferson in check. While others might focus on Jordan Davis’s size , at 6-foot-3, 315-pound the senior from Decatur, Georgia was all over the place Saturday Between the Hedges. In order to keep focus on what lies ahead, Auburn is next up and Wyatt is a very important part of Georgia’s success on defense. His play allows the linebackers to control the line of scrimmage and three yards on each side. His senior leadership might be the most valuable asset he provides the Dawgs on a daily basis.
Special Team Player
Jack Podlesny – the junior from Glynn Academy (St. Simons Island) came through three times Saturday and continued to be very impressive after a slow start to the season. Field goals of 30, 37 and 46 yards combined with four extra points capped off a perfect day for POD. A kicker is judged by their latest success and Pod had great success Saturday with accuracy and confidence that is only built in games. Each week is a new challenge for Pod and the Dawgs. Auburn is the next up in a four game run that will determine the Bulldogs fate for the season. Pod will be a key ingredient to making some magic for the Bulldog Nation as we go on this stretch that will make or break all our dreams. Stay true Pod we will need you!
