Kevin Butler, former University of Georgia legendary kicker and a member of the Georgia radio broadcast team, will each week during the 2015 football season select his offensive, defensive and special teams players of the week for Bulldawg Illustrated. Here are Butler’s selections and reasons why for the Bulldogs’ 31-14 win over Vanderbilt on Saturday.

OFFENSE
[su_spacer size=”20″] Sophomore tailback Nick Chubb, who rushed for 189 yards on 19, carries to once again spark the Bulldogs’ offense. It was the 10th consecutive game Chubb has run for more than 100 yards.
[su_spacer size=”20″] “In a game that you might have to search for an offensive player of the game, one player stands out … Nick Chubb,” said Butler. “Chubb’s 68-yard burst in the first quarter was the first big play of the game but it was not enough to produce points. Nick had 19 carries for 189 yards for a serious 9.9-yard average, which can only help if the offense does not develop a capable passing game. Chubb’s ability to become a receiver helped with 2 catches for 13 yards. Sony (Michel) was my second choice and third was Isaiah McKenzie …. so let’ say Nick, Sony, McKenzie is a real threat moving forward!”
[su_spacer size=”40″] DEFENSE
[su_spacer size=”20″] Senior outside linebacker Jordan Jenkins, who sparked Georgia’s outstanding defensive effort with a career-high 11 total tackles, which included two sacks and 5.5 tackles-for-loss.
[su_spacer size=”20″] “In maybe one of his most dominant games of his career Jordan Jenkins was a monster,” said Butler.
[su_spacer size=”20″] “Jordan’s strength showed in his physical play against the Vandy O-line. Eleven tackles with six solos and five assists led the defense with 5.5 tackles for losses totaling 22 yards, which were more yards than our offense had passing in the first half. With Jordan playing hard Chris Mayes and Sterling Bailey have challenged themselves to bring a much more physical game to the opponents. The defensive line’s play makes a big difference when they are led by Mr. J.J.!”
[su_spacer size=”40″] SPECIAL TEAMS
[su_spacer size=”20″] Sophomore kick returner Isaiah McKenzie, who tallied the Bulldogs’ first touchdown on a brilliant 77-yard punt return. He also ran 24 yards on a reverse play.
[su_spacer size=”20″] “In one of the worst special teams performances since last year, Isaiah McKenzie was the bright spot,” said Butler. “In his first return to returning, Isaiah did just that with a 77-yard TD run that was the first score for UGA. Isaiah is a threat that needs to be utilized every chance they have to put the ball in his hands. He makes the return squad play extra hard, which enables Isaiah to do his thing. His thing is to produce and score TD’s. Great job Isaiah!”
