Kevin Butler’s Players of the Week: Georgia vs. Auburn 2024

Offensive Player

Trevor Etienne – The outstanding transfer from the University of Florida showed up big in our challenge against the Auburn Tigers Saturday. He has become our featured back, and he did his best to separate himself with a great performance on the ground and through the air. Etienne combined 88 yards rushing with 36 yards receiving for 124 productive yards and in the most important SEC win of 2024. We will need him to keep developing, and I would love to see him stay in a sustained drive and let him rack up the yards as he did as a Gator versus Georgia. Etienne can become a special Dawg, and that is what we need.

Defensive Player

Dan Jackson- Action Jackson or Dan the Man, he certainly deserves a nickname that all Bulldogs will respect. Dan’s play Saturday against the Tigers was unmatched with seven solo tackles and a blocked field goal that shifted the momentum of the game and led the Bulldogs to victory. We have seen Dan develop into a legitimate college football star and now more than ever we need solid play and leadership to carry us through a very tough SEC schedule. Dan is the man and action Jackson is the guy – he is a Damn Good Dawg.

Special Team Player

Brett Thorson and Dan Jackson – This week there is a combination as we bring two countries together. The great country of Australia will be combined with the great country of the United States of America. Dan Jackson and Brett Thorson combined to be a force on special teams with tremendous play from each of them. Brett continued his fabulous punting, pinning Auburn inside the 20 twice and Dan Jackson, AKA Action Jackson, blocked a field goal which led to a Georgia touchdown. Special plays from special guys.

Unsung Hero of the Game

Drew Bobo – Drew Bobo was called to duty Saturday against Auburn and could not have performed better in his role as center for the University of Georgia. Drew was raised by a true football player, coach, and father Mike Bobo. Mike is our offensive coordinator and without a doubt, no son could have more pressure on himself than Drew Saturday. When he was asked to be the center he responded. His performance as the coordinator of the offensive line was spectacular. Always remember that unsung heroes do not promote themselves, but Drew deserves a big high five for a great performance filling in at one of the most important positions in football – the center… Which equals the center of attention. Great job Drew!
