Kirby Smart doesn’t hand out praise that often but he lit up in his post-practice presser on Tuesday when the talk came to Ahkil Crumpton. The JUCO transfer receiver was a late addition to the 2017 class but based on Fall Camp so far, he hasn’t missed a beat. 
 
Coach Smart explained how Ahkil is feisty and competitive, something that Smart strives for in a player.
 
 

“A blessing in disguise, because he’s really run great routes.  He’s really good in and out of breaks,” Smart commented.  “He’s got great hands, big hands for a small guy. He snatches the ball out of the air. He plucks it.  He’s done a really good job.  The tough thing is, he’s in competition with Mecole (Hardman) some, Terry (Godwin) some, Mark Webb has worked in the slot some.  So his specialty is returning, but he’s not a one-trick guy.  The guy goes in there and does really well.  I’ll tell you what now, he is physical and feisty.  He doesn’t mind getting up in there and blocking and competing. He gets slung around sometimes, but it’s the fight in him that I really enjoy.”

 
 
After 14 days of camp, Crumpton seems to have lived up if not surpassed the hype that surrounded him when he transferred to Georgia from Los Angles Valley Community College. Seventeen days now stand between him and his teammates first game of the season. Can he duplicate what he has done in practice when the lights come on, on Saturdays, and more importantly, can he do it against SEC competition.
