Kirby Smart appeared before the Macon Touchdown Club and his quick wit and cleverness earned him some laughs with the crowd.
 
 

Smart started off his speech by very sincerely explaining how lucky he considers himself to be in the profession he is and how he does not take for granted it for granted. The main thing that Smart said he does not take for granted is the opportunity he has to have such a profound impact on the members of his team, not only as football players but as men.
 
 

 
 
Smart also briefly honored the late Quentin Moses and recalled how hard of a worker he was in practice each and every day. Smart also said that Moses was becoming one of college football’s rising stars.
 
 
The question and answer portion of Smart’s speech was much more light-hearted and Smart was cracking jokes with the crowd often. It was definitely his quick wit that earned him the most favor with the crowd and it earned him many laughs as well. The one portion that stood out the most was when a member of the audience commented on Jim Chaney’s of his lack of use with tight ends. Smart quickly responded with “You didn’t think we used them enough last year, Okay let me write that down I’ll get to him. What was your name again?” The crowd definitely enjoyed this and it earned the biggest laugh from them as well.
 
 
Smart went on to answer the question by saying that he wants to use the tight ends more and that he’s gonna use the best players that he thinks can help them win the most. I believe the Smart’s clever answers helped make him seem more easy going, but the fact that he would give a real answer afterwards was also enjoyable for the crowd.
 
 
Overall, Smart came off as a very well-spoken and clever coach that seems honored to have the job he has and is hungry for success at the University of Georgia.
