With questions swirling around the Georgia football program concerning the team’s quarterback situation, Kirby Smart makes it known that the program does not revolve around the quarterback but the culture.

 
 
Although coach Smart is only in his second season at the University of Georgia, there has definitely been a cultural shift in the program. Smart has worked tirelessly to make sure that there is never a sense of complacency with anyone involved with the program and he is always asking for contributions from every member of the roster.
 
 

“I’m trying to build this one(program) on the philosophies that we believe in, which is toughness, effort, being physical, being dominant at the line of scrimmage, having big, physical people, winning on special teams,” said Smart.

 
 
Smart preaches “toughness, effort, and being physical,” and he does not want his players to ever be complacent with where they are in their game. He requires relentless effort from his team and the culture he is creating at this program is starting to make waves and generate buzz throughout the college football world.
 
 
However, a lot of the buzz around his team is surrounding the quarterback battle that is brewing between freshman Jake Fromm and sophomore Jacob Eason, who is returning from an injury in the opening game. Smart wants it to be known that although the quarterback position is definitely a key to his team’s success it is not the most important thing to focus on within the program.
 
 

“The program does not revolve around the quarterback it revolves around the culture. When you get the culture right, it takes care of the other,” said Smart.

 
 
There will definitely be some arguments throughout the fan base on who should be the starting quarterback for the Bulldogs, but there is no argument that Smart is building something special in Athens and the culture he has brought will play a large role in that.
