Kirby Smart met briefly with the UGA beat media upon his arrival at the SEC Spring Meetings in Destin. One topic was suspensions for three players arrested over the past few months. Coach Smart would not say if any of the players would miss game time for their offenses.
Is it significant that when AD Greg McGarity was last asked about a suspension for Julian Rochester that he deferred to Smart? If Rochester is going to miss playing time in the opener, Kirby is not going to inform the North Carolina staff through the media.
Right know, Kirby’s reply about Ledbetter is, “We’ll find out with the first game.” (7:00-minute mark below)
He went on to say about Rochester, Ledbetter, Clay and Briscoe, “Each one of those kids is serving their punishment and doing the things they have got to do in order to be where we want them to be, which is out there in the fall.”
Is this a new era in discipline at UGA? “We’ll find out with the first game.”
