Tuesday marked another hot and humid August day for the Bulldogs’ 14th football practice of Fall Camp. Afterward, Head Coach Kirby Smart gave a progress report and an injury update on the team.
Coach Smart remarked on just how hot it was at Tuesday’s practice by saying “it was another heater,” and while he says the team still has a ways to go to be ready, he was pleased with how the players have responded to the heat, pushing through and buying to the need to play fast and physical. On the injury front, Kirby said that freshman RB D’Andre Swift tweaked his ankle but will be OK, and junior DE Jonathan Ledbetter is back and good to go. Long snapper Trent Frix was another player bitten by the injury bugy during Saturday’s scrimmage. He sustained a hamstring injury, but Coach Smart said that he should be find and should be back soon. Moving from injuries to players that are impressing in Fall Camp; one player that has stood out in the secondary according to Coach Smart is J.R. Reed, and he also praised wide receivers Ahkil Crumpton and Terry Godwin.
