The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) and Oracle announced the latest singles and doubles rankings Wednesday, and they feature an array of Lady Bulldogs from the UGA women’s tennis team following a strong fall.

Freshman Katarina Jokic, who posted a team-best 19-3 mark including six wins over ranked opponents, checks in at No. 12 among the singles top 125. One of Jokic’s fall highlights was winning the ITA Southeast Regional singles title. Sophomore Marta Gonzlaez, who was preseason ranked No. 105, went 16-5, and saw her ranking rise to a career-best No. 51. Also, freshman Morgan Coppoc, who tallied an 11-4 record, makes her debut at No. 55.

In doubles, Georgia used the fall to experiment with different tandems, and the top performing duos were Coppoc and sophomore Elena Christofi along with Jokic and senior Mariana Gould. The Christofi/Coppoc team went 9-5 with six wins over ranked opponents. They make their debut at No. 6 in the latest ranking of the top 60 doubles teams. The Jokic/Gould duo played 15 matches and went 12-3 with four wins over ranked teams. This Bulldog team is now ranked No. 24.

“We had a busy fall and played a lot of great matches, and these rankings reflect those results,” said Georgia head coach Jeff Wallace. “Still, we’ll keep it in perspective because the most important thing is that everything is still in front of us as we prepare for the indoor and outdoor season.”

Recently, Georgia wrapped up the fall tournament season that stretched from September to the middle of November. The Bulldogs return to action in January when the indoor season begins. The first team rankings will be announced Jan. 3, and the next individual rankings are due out Feb. 7.
